WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026

World Environment Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and environmental awareness at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing, Mysore. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of protecting our environment, reducing non-biodegradable waste, and encouraging sustainable living practices among students and the community.

The programme was graced by esteemed dignitaries:

The programme began with a warm welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest. This was followed by a soulful prayer song, creating a serene and positive atmosphere for the event.

The formal inauguration of World Environment Day was conducted by the dignitaries, marking the beginning of the celebration. The event focused mainly on raising awareness about environmental protection and responsible use of resources.

A student representative delivered an informative speech on the importance of World Environment Day 2026, emphasizing the need to reduce pollution and adopt eco-friendly practices in daily life.

Rev. Fr. Naveen Kumar K addressed the gathering with an insightful speech highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable development, and the responsibility of healthcare professionals in promoting a healthy environment.

One of the major highlights of the programme was the exhibition on non-biodegradable waste. Students creatively displayed various models, charts, and innovative ideas showing the harmful effects of plastic and other non-degradable materials.

The exhibition also focused on:

  • Reuse and recycling techniques
  • Creative products made from waste materials
  • Awareness messages on reducing plastic usage

This exhibition helped in educating students and visitors about practical solutions to environmental problems.

Cultural and Awareness Activities

A mime performance was conducted by students, effectively portraying the dangers of environmental pollution and the consequences of irresponsible human activities. The performance conveyed a strong message without words and was appreciated by all.

Rev. Fr. Roxan Thomas Baroos delivered an inspiring speech appreciating the efforts of students and staff. He emphasized the need for collective action to protect nature and encouraged everyone to adopt eco-friendly habits.

A unique fashion show was organized with the theme “Without Affecting Nature,” where participants showcased creative outfits made from eco-friendly and recycled materials. This activity highlighted the concept of sustainable fashion and received great appreciation.

As a symbolic gesture towards environmental protection, a tree planting activity was conducted by BSc and GNM students. This initiative aimed to promote greenery and instill a sense of responsibility towards nature among students.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, participants, and attendees for making the event successful.

The celebration of World Environment Day 2026 at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing, Mysore, was a meaningful and impactful event that inspired everyone to take small steps towards a greener and healthier planet.
